Here comes the beast, here comes the animal. We can't stop it. Here comes the beast, here comes the animal. We can't stop it, but we can resist. And in resistance there is hope.

Bellcast 02:48
The sounds of Mabilon Muse invoking Song of the Bell “I call the living I repel lightning I mourn the dead” I thought you’d be the one. A rare phenomenon. Ornate doors open to your peal I love. The sounds of Mabilon. Zenith of your song. That time has come and gone. Until we call upon. Tintinnabulation. Hallowed occasions. Escort our transitions. Your knell I love. As your closing bell tolls I’m in the afterglow. I could never forego your ring I love.
3.
Elephant 03:32
Out of your element, you're out of your place. Forced into exile, you're out of your place. You're an elephant, stomping around place to place. Why do you destroy all of this space? You're an elephant, you are. You're an elephant, you are. And if you knew what you are, you'd know it's the fault of the baby elephant. No?

I'm locked in this room. It seems from the outside. I want to break through, to not feel confined. But if I do, surroundings could kill me. Imagine that truth as if it were your own. Because it's so dangerous for someone like me to look you straight in the eye and say that we're equals. So I keep my head down until the threat is gone. And if I run like I used to won't it just seem like I am guilty of something I'm trying to flee. We live inside a power imbalance. I don't think you could ever understand what it is I'm fighting. I approach the stand afraid to confront this. I must defend what no one believes. Thought they were my friends, but now I'm uncertain when this nightmare will end or what building trust means. They'll ask me, "What were you wearing?" "What did you drink?" "Why were you standing alone there, what did you think would happen?" "You really ought to be more careful." I guess it's my fault they drugged me and took me away to places I did not know and still to this day I have no idea what was done to my limp body. I don't think you could ever understand what it is I'm fighting. I don't think you could ever understand what it is I'm fighting, unless you've lived it. Unless you've lived it.

Haiku Song 05:23
The eyes of the trees fixed on intentions of them predicting the end. The flow of our streets disrupt the life of the deer they tell our headlights. We don't ask what they need. We make their homes our streets. They don't have a say. Their death is their speech. Frozen ancient sheets disappearing from their beds advance and retreat. We don't wanna leave. All we know is a linear being. Forgotten twin eternities. Let go of what was and could be.
6.
For You 03:04
I'll stop the train for you. I'll stop the train for you. And you throw me off. You throw me off.
7.
Whale Fall 05:19
Your husk sinks into the abyss. Drawing all the life that surrounds it. Spiral down with your residents. Traveling on to a new end. (The end of your life.) Their fate now a funeral march. Gathering tithes in the death swirl. Water dark masks out all of the light from the old world that they came from. (Fell from in your plight.) They live in your whale fall. They live in your rot gut.
8.
Black Cat 04:14
I'm a black cat waiting for headlights. I'm a black cat waiting for headlights. I keep waiting for something to happen. I keep waiting for something... I taught myself to cry. I taught myself to cry. I taught myself to die. All by myself. I taught myself to die. I taught myself to die. But I taught myself to fly. All by myself.
9.
Our love was like a blue whale swimming through a neighborhood. Didn't notice it coming yet there gazing at its underbelly we stood. [For the end bit: scramble these phrases up and sing them when you feel it.] Our love's Cetacean Shadow. Gazing at its underbelly. We're caught up in its current.
10.
Your eyes fall. Your eyes fall. Your eyes fall as... As we... As we... rise up. As we rise up.

about

This is our first full album release. Over the past 3 years we've traveled around the US playing these songs in various houses, basements, gardens, old churches... Rather than just putting them in the archive as they were, we brushed them off, took what we learned along the way, and reworked them. Now they sound like this. We hope you like them.

And while we have you, please check out our interactive music video that takes you through a journey spanning 5 songs from the album. Available on iOS, Android, Mac, PC, here:

Have a good life, and please say hi the next time you see us.

Many tracks have elements that were recorded and engineered by Nick Broste at the late and great Shape Shoppe in Chicago, IL. It sadly perished in the COVID-19 Pandemic, but Nick Broste is still doing his thing.

Cetacean Shadow's accordion recording was engineered by Jacob Bills. We met him when his group O Paradiso came through to play in Hope's garden back when she was living in Fort Wayne, IN.

The album art's "Silbo Head" as we call it was first drawn by En Hughey, and artist in Fort Wayne, IN, for our self titled EP. The head was carried into our interactive music video, and now the cover of our album. What will it haunt next?
